Lists are part of everyday life. We use lists for shopping, navigation and even recipes. It’s not surprising then that lists are also prominent on websites. They make web content easy to scan and understand.

Tables are a commonly used formatting tool to help present large amounts of information, in reports, books and presentations. Often, we see them on websites to display information and data, however, on our websites we ask that you avoid using tables on your pages.
Dear Web Editor community,
A lot has changed recently, including a rapid transition to working from home and influx of new work priorities. The Web Operations Team would like to assure you that we are still here to offer support and guidance with your editing duties but we’re evolving how we help you.
Did you know we hold a monthly web editor lab session? It’s a set hour where you can come along and work on you web editing tasks or ask our team questions about your duties.
To help give insights about what actually happens at a lab session, and what it means for our editors, we had a chat with one of our regular attendees, Sarah.
Relevant images on a webpage can create a strong first impression. But when we use images incorrectly or excessively it can have a detrimental effect on the audience.
It is common for people to confuse the intranet and the public facing website. Although each platform is accessed through a web browser and have La Trobe information, they have different goals and objectives.
We all know January is a great month for planning and goal setting. It’s also the perfect time to plan what you’d like to achieve for your website in the year ahead. To help get your website in tip-top shape in 2020 we’ve come up with 5 goals to add to your list.
Thank you for your ongoing support, feedback and web editing during 2019.
The Web Editor Blog will be taking a break over the university shut down period (24 December – 1 January 2020) and will return in 2020.
The Web Operations team would like to wish you and your families a safe and happy holiday season.
See you in 2020!
If we had a dollar for every time we were asked to add a carousel to a webpage, we’d have enough money to enjoy a fancy dinner on Collins Street.
A carousel is a module on a page that allows dynamic content to be on display. Like the name suggests, information can be placed on auto-rotate to display new information every 5 seconds. The feature is often used by creative professionals or e-commerce companies.
