Want to never miss a spelling mistake or broken link again? We have a tool that can help you!

Web Operations would like to introduce you to Siteimprove, a new tool to help identify quality assurance errors across your site.

What is Siteimprove?

Siteimprove is a bot that crawls your site weekly checking for quality issues. It reports errors with recommendations for improvement and action. Siteimprove uses industry benchmarks to rate your site on three web fundamentals:

  • quality assurance
  • accessibility
  • search engine optimisation (SEO).

Siteimprove provides a score for each section. It sorts issues and provides guidance on how to fix these. It rates the complexity of the issues from “quick win” to “high impact”. Siteimprove also flags potential issues which you need to review.
Dashboards are available throughout to provide quick insights as well as show progress.

What does Siteimprove scan?

  • broken links
  • misspellings
  • accessibility
  • search engine optimisation
  • content policies and custom rules.

Siteimprove’s modules

Quality Assurance module

This module will check your site for quality issues. It identifies issues that may affect user retention, engagement, navigation and security.

Siteimprove will check content for freshness, readability and misspellings. Link checks will include link status, as well as the safety of your external links.

Accessibility module

Siteimprove’s accessibility module provides recommendations to give visitors a better experience. Siteimprove checks your site against WCAG success criteria and best practices.

Results identify errors where criteria are not met.

SEO module

Siteimprove rates how well search engines index your site. This will include how your site is performing in technical aspects as well as providing friendly interfaces for users.

Siteimprove’s recommendations will show how to optimise content to help you rank higher in search results.

How to get access?

The Web Operations team will be rolling out training in the coming months. We have identified high impact sites and will be in contact if you are the editor of one of these sites.
